Dear letter reader,
Welcome back to Your Sunday somatic practice.
This letter brings you a simple practice that allows you to connect to your body, your environment and other beings around you in a regulated and grounding way.
In a busy world, it’s easy to be disconnected from ourselves and the goodness that’s around us, leaving our nervous system in fight, flight or freeze responses. This leaves us numb, tired and dissatisfied.
And I don’t know about you, but I have to be pretty intentional about not getting sucked into the distraction and chaos.
So consider this your invitation to reconnect and remember what it means to be human, in your body, in this place, right now.
As always it comes with a song to compliment the theme or mood of the practice. Music is good for the souls (in case you didn’t know ;)..
So todays practice is ridiculously simple…
Follow the impulses of your body
When you need a wee - Go for a wee.
When you’re hungry - eat.
When you’re thirsty - drink.
When you’re tired - rest.
I know, I know. Crazy right?
But…
How many times have you suddenly realised you’re busting for a wee because you’ve just done one more thing, and then another and then another?
How many times have you got dehydrated. Again?
How many times have you bitten someone’s head off because you’re ‘hangry’?
Or got overwhelmed because you’re running on empty???
Life has become so fast paced, that we are often not even meeting our basic human needs.
When you hear the term ‘embodiment’ on Instagram it often comes with perfect yoga poses and floaty kaftans on a beach, but the foundations of embodiment is about us being able to hear and listen to the communication from our bodies and taking action to meet our human needs.
So try spending a day where you actually listen to your bodies requests, respond to them as soon as you can and see what happens.
This can be a real challenge and a game changer for those of us who put others needs before our own.
And here’s todays track- have a listen here and it will make sense.
Sending warm Sunday vibes
Leah
